CHAIR'S CHALLENGE 2024/25

Our Chair is asking for a piece of work, no larger than A4 in size, in any stitch technique, inspired by the poem 'Cargoes' by John Masefield.   The two categories are: 'Hand Embroidery' and 'Machine Embroidery'. If your entry contains both, you need to decide which category you wish to enter. Entries will be displayed at the AGM in September 2025 and members will vote.

'Fragments of the Past'

Gillian is a textile artist and award winning City and Guilds tutor and has been studying for an MA in Contemporary Art and Archaeology using her textile practice.  Gillian will talk through her recent work explaining how archaeology and art inform her textiles and how she moved from being an accountant to a textile artist.
